What's left us when we say no to Botox, cutting, and hair dye

I learned a lot from Carol Burnett
All that I was capable of learning, anyway. Saturday nights in front of her show: a family tradition. But damn it, isn't it better to look plain old old than to look old and grotesque?
A face that we all knew & loved & now looks weird, seems wrong even if she loves it. But then I sometimes do what I want when it's different from what others want me to do, so?
What's it like to be a midwestern American female at age 50? Let's find out together!
I'm perfectly normal in many respects. I am my second husband's third wife. Our child is younger than most children of 50 year-old mothers. We work, we scrape, we worry.
And I'm wondering what 50 will bring, in addition to swollen ankles.
Insight? wisdom? yuks? or yucks?
My goal is to post from time to time for a year, beginning on my 50th birthday.
All's I know is this: we've got to be strong. In every way.
A face that we all knew & loved & now looks weird, seems wrong even if she loves it. But then I sometimes do what I want when it's different from what others want me to do, so?
